Respiratory Care Practitioner – Part Time Days Part‑time Salary Range Minimum: $38.50 per hour Salary Range Maximum: $53.90 per hour Compensation: USD 38.50 – USD 53.90 hourly At Northwestern Medicine, every patient interaction makes a difference in cultivating a positive workplace. Work Schedule: Part‑time, 48 hours per pay period, day shift, 6:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. with every third weekend and rotating holidays. The Respiratory Care Practitioner I is a clinically competent, licensed professional who administers respiratory care to the acutely ill patient through assessment, planning/evaluation, intervention and treatment. The practitioner interacts with patients, families and health‑team members, providing care within the scope of their training. Responsibilities Competent in all adult medical‑surgical units in all respiratory therapies and modalities. Understands and implements adult respiratory protocols, policies, and guidelines that are ordered on medical‑surgical units. Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy; adjusts frequencies as appropriate. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition appropriately to other members of the healthcare team. Educates patients and/or families and provides information about respiratory disease management, community support groups and other resources. Competent in all adult care areas including medical‑surgical units, emergency department, and critical care units and other units as per hospital expectations. Responds to clinical emergency management situations. Participates in multidisciplinary rounds and collaborates with the healthcare team. Evaluates and utilizes respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research and best practices. Precepts students. Serves as a positive role model for team members by working with them to promote teamwork and cooperation; consistently adheres to NM Code of Professionalism. Required Qualifications Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program. Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Active or pending Illinois Respiratory Care License. Basic Life Support (BLS). Preferred Qualifications Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Adult Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
