About the Position

Job Title: MICU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12.5 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Medical Intensive Care Unit License: Active RN License in Massachusetts Certifications: BLS and ACLS Must-Have: - 2 years of continuous experience in a Medical Intensive Care Unit - Ability to read telemetry strips - Floating to Medical/Surgical Units required Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit working night shifts. The nurse will care for a diverse range of adult patients with various diagnoses, including substance abuse, severe psychiatric conditions, diabetic ketoacidosis, sepsis, gastrointestinal bleeding, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock. There will be attendings and residents present in the unit 24 hours a day. The unit comprises 20 beds, providing intensive care to critically ill patients. The nurse will be responsible for managing a patient load of 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity patients, and 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to other medical-surgical areas. Telemetry competency is required for this role. Electronic Medical Records will be utilized for charting.
