Trade Compliance Specialist 4 - Remote

About Insitu Insitu is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented trade compliance licensing professional to support its robust international portfolio of clients. Our ideal candidate has experience with U.S. exports, deep knowledge of ITAR and EAR license management, and thrives on collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. In this role you will prepare, submit, and administer export agreements, hardware and marketing licenses, and commodity jurisdiction requests. You will be part of a collaborative team focused on creating business‑enabling strategies through trade control expertise. Responsibilities Monitors all licensing activity for compliance and accuracy; evaluates and escalates licensing and non‑compliance issues. Drafts responses to external inquiries and data requests. Evaluates data and tracking metrics and develops company and external reports. Establishes export licensing and compliance programs and monitors effectiveness. Drafts and manages export license applications for customer deliveries and engineering and development activities, including Technical Assistance Agreements, Warehouse Distribution Agreements, Manufacturing License Agreements, Hardware Licenses, exemption documentation and Internal Compliance Plans. Reviews technical data for proper export classification and compliance with export authorities prior to export. Coordinatie watch‑list screening and provides licensing support for international travelers. Manages license administration, monitors use and valuation, maintains documentation of exported products, and manages license lifecycle. Collaborates with trade compliance team members and engineering staff to provide export classifications for new technologies, major systems, parts, components, and technical information. Required Experience and Qualifications 7+ years’ experience drafting and managing U.S. export authorities (U.S. Department of State, Department of Commerce). Knowledge of ITAR and EAR license lifecycle management against U.S. regulatory requirements and license conditions; strong background in export jurisdiction classification. Experience researching and evaluating technologies against U.S. Export Regulations (ITAR and EAR) to determine export classification jurisdiction, including drafting of Commodity Jurisdictions and CCATS applications. Experience interfacing and maintaining strong relationships with technical and programmatic teams to effectively facilitate role objectives. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance. Creative problem‑solving skills and ability to find solutions to complex requirements. Deep knowledge of U.S. export and import rules and regulations. Ability to learn, ask questions, challenge the status quo, and find creative solutions within U.S. and international regulations. Ability to collect and synthesize data from various stakeholders to produce clear written documents. Effective communication and collaboration with geographically distributed and virtual teams. Interest and ability to move between teams and programs to provide licensing support across various technical and program portfolios. Ability to focus on repetitive tasks that may be time sensitive while maintaining quality. Strong organizational skills and capacity to balance competing demands; effective at prioritizing tasks. Excellent problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and analytical skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office products—including Teams, SharePoint, Excel—and experience with OCR EASE software (preferred). Typical Education & Experience 10‑14 years with a bachelor’s degree or 8‑12 years with a master’s degree. Engineering or other technical degree preferred. Compensation Typical hiring range: $98,500.00 – $135,300.00. Salaries are based on candidate experience, qualifications and work location.
