FTR Trader

A leading proprietary trading firm is looking to hire an FTR Trader to join its growing power markets team. The firm has built a strong presence across US power markets, combining deep market expertise with a highly collaborative and data-driven trading environment. In this role, you will work closely with traders and analysts to identify and execute opportunities across congestion markets, with a focus on developing and refining FTR strategies. This position is well suited to individuals with a strong understanding of grid dynamics, market design, and a hands-on approach to trading and research. Your role: Trade FTRs and congestion products across multiple ISO markets Develop and refine data-driven trading strategies across power markets Analyze grid dynamics, transmission constraints, and market structure to identify opportunities Manage risk across positions and contribute to overall desk performance Collaborate with traders, analysts, and technology teams to enhance strategy development and execution Experience/skills required: 3+ years of experience in FTR trading, congestion analysis, or related power market roles Strong understanding of US power market design, transmission, and grid operations Proficiency in Python for data analysis and research Experience developing and evaluating trading strategies across full lifecycle Strong quantitative and analytical skillset, with an understanding of statistical methods Ability to operate in a fast-paced, collaborative trading environment Pre-Application: This is a full-time, on-site opportunity based in California; remote candidates will not be considered.
