Associate Clinical Engineer

Zimmer Biomet seeks an Associate Clinical Engineer to design patient-specific 3D-printed orthopedic implants and surgical instruments. This entry-level role bridges medical imaging, virtual surgical planning, and additive manufacturing, requiring close collaboration with surgeons and cross-functional engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end design process for custom 3D-printed patient-matched implants and instruments
• Review and refine virtual surgical plans and guide designs based on medical imaging
• Communicate with surgeons to obtain clinical approval of patient-specific surgical plans
• Observe surgical procedures on lower extremity pathology to understand clinical requirements
• Perform quality checks ensuring designs meet released specifications and create case documentation

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, or related engineering discipline
• 0-2 years clinical or medical device design experience
• Proficiency with 3D parametric or surface modeling software, Solidworks preferred
• Knowledge of engineering materials, manufacturing processes, and basic biomechanics
• Familiarity with DICOM imaging and Materialise software preferred
• Strong detail orientation and ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks
• Effective communication and presentation skills

Compensation: $50,000-$70,000 USD annually depending on skills and experience
