Akiro Chicago is the highly anticipated first U.S. location of the acclaimed Nikkei hand roll bar born in Spain, with successful locations in Madrid and Barcelona.

Founded by a visionary team of hospitality professionals and co-led by renowned Nikkei chef Luis Arévalo, Akiro has built a cult following for its elegant design, exceptional service, and menu of high-quality hand rolls, sashimi, and nigiri. Its blend of Japanese technique and Peruvian flavor has been spotlighted in top food publications and ranks among Spain’s best sushi spots.

Now bringing this globally inspired concept to Chicago’s River North, Akiro will introduce a vibrant, immersive dining experience with a sharp focus on hospitality, quality, and attention to detail.

As the first face guests see when they enter Akiro, the Hostess plays a critical role in setting the tone for a smooth and elegant experience. We are looking for someone warm, detail-oriented, and professional—someone who understands that hospitality starts at the door.

• Welcome guests with sincerity, warmth, and professionalism

• Manage all reservations and walk-in flow through OpenTable

• Coordinate seating and table turns in collaboration with FOH team

• Handle guest inquiries via phone and in person

• Maintain a clean and polished entry area and host stand

• Support the team with occasional administrative tasks or event notes

• Prior experience as a hostess in an upscale or high-volume setting

• Knowledgeable in both Toast POS and OpenTable ( a must )

• Excellent communication and multitasking skills

• Polished appearance and strong guest presence

• Calm under pressure and proactive with problem-solving

• Team-first mindset and strong hospitality instincts

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
