The FBS Roving Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the operational efficiency of facilities within the real estate portfolio. This position involves providing on-the-move technical support and troubleshooting across multiple sites to ensure all building systems function optimally. The engineer will be responsible for conducting routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and urgent repairs to minimize downtime and maintain a safe, comfortable environment for guests and staff. Collaboration with various departments is essential to prioritize tasks and implement solutions that align with organizational standards and guest expectations. Ultimately, the role ensures that all facilities under the Facilities Building Services (FBS) umbrella operate seamlessly, supporting the overall guest experience and business continuity.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or diploma in engineering, facilities management, or a related field is required.
• Proven experience in building maintenance or engineering within the commercial real estate or related industries.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Special Engineer Boiler's License.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record to travel between multiple sites.
• Position requires verification of employment eligibility to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Facilities Management.
• Certification in HVAC, electrical systems, or plumbing (e.g., EPA certification).
• Familiarity with energy management systems and sustainable building practices.
• First aid and safety training certifications.

Responsibilities:

• Perform regular inspections and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems across multiple facilities.
• Respond promptly to service requests and emergency breakdowns, diagnosing issues and implementing effective repairs.
• Coordinate with property managers and other stakeholders to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to operations.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory to support asset management and compliance.
• Assist in the implementation of energy-saving initiatives and safety protocols to enhance facility sustainability and occupant safety.
• Participate in rotating on-call schedule and respond to after-hours calls, as required.

Skills:

Ability to use various testing devices, tools and equipment related to the mechanical trades; general familiarity with computers; capability to handle multiple projects; ability to project company vision of customer service and customer relations under all conditions.

The candidate must also possess strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to function as a team member in a demanding service environment. Physical requirements include the ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, and reach to complete maintenance tasks; ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly and climb five flights of stairs without stopping.

The FBS Roving Engineer utilizes technical skills daily to diagnose and repair complex building systems, ensuring minimal disruption to facility operations. Strong problem-solving abilities enable the engineer to quickly identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective solutions. Communication skills are essential for coordinating with teams and reporting maintenance activities clearly and accurately. Time management and organizational skills help prioritize multiple service requests across various locations efficiently. Additionally, proficiency with maintenance software and safety protocols supports compliance and continuous improvement in facility operations.

Compensation: The base pay is $28.00 - $36.00 per hour.

Hours: Monday-Friday: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
