Come be part of our BBQ! **Role Overview****Summary**:This position is a hands-on Mechanical Designer with a focus on New Product Development. This role is responsible for supporting all efforts related to the design of Mechanical and Electro-mechanical systems into our Outdoor Cooking products. In this role, you will work with a cross-functional team to design ideas using CAD models, drawings, cost estimates, prototyping, and testing products. This position will provide engineering design support for assigned product development projects. This is a hybrid role requiring in-office days at our Palatine, IL campus. **Responsibilities:** * Create and refine design solutions to identified product requirements, formalize designs with the use of CAD (SolidWorks)* Create complex models and drawings to established guidelines and standards.* Ensure that products are designed to meet all performance specifications and regulatory requirements* Work collaboratively with Product, Quality, Manufacturing, and Suppliers* Support prototype creation and models to validate designs including hands-on testing and iterative learning* Perform basic IP searches* Supports non-NPD initiatives including the resolution of quality issues, cost reductions, and productivity initiatives* Develop unique and innovative solutions for unmet customer needs and/or new features to maintain product leadership* Provide design support across projects and product categories.* Create and maintain specifications and project documentation as needed. **Qualifications:**Education:* Associate degree in engineering, manufacturing, or equivalent technical degreeWork Experience:* Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in a relevant field* Designing solutions that meet regulatory and safety requirements* SolidWorks: Proficiency with 3D modelingSkills:* Independent self-starter who can manage and prioritize work based on departmental goals and objectives* Effective communication (written, spoken, meeting facilitation)* Ability to work cross-functionally* Team Player* Results Oriented* Tolerance Analysis* SolidWorks: sheet metal, surfacing, drawings* DFMEA, DVP&R, PPAP, Design for Assembly, Design for Manufacturing* Sheel metal, injection molding and die casting development experience (preferred) **Benefits:*** Medical, dental, and vision coverage* Life and disability insurance* Employee Assistance Program (EAP)* 401(k) with company match* Eligible for paid time off (vacation, sick, personal, holiday) **Salary Range:** $72,000 - $85,000*\\* This salary range represents Weber Blackstone's good faith belief of what we reasonably expect to pay the top candidate*
