Physician Assistant - Orthopedics

Provides clinical care for patients Completes comprehensive patient assessments Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care Refers for specialty care when determined Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Physician Assistant scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear Participates in health care team Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff Acts as resource to members of the team Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients Works with primary care team for program development Participates in research activities when opportunity available Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed Requirements Master's degree Completion of accredited Physician Assistant program required Experience post Physician Assistant training strongly preferred Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required upon hire ACLS/BLS Tier 2-Advanced Cardiac Life Support - Multisource preferred upon hire Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants upon hire required Drug Enforcement Administration upon hire required Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in clinical care, patient assessment, and treatment planning, with a strong focus on collaboration within healthcare teams and effective patient education.
