Job Overview

We are seeking a CNC Machine Operator to join a growing manufacturing team in NE Portland. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with machining experience who enjoy working with advanced equipment in a clean, modern production environment. In this role, you will set up, operate, and monitor CNC machinery while supporting quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up CNC machines, tooling, and equipment according to production requirements.
• Operate and monitor CNC and automated manufacturing equipment to ensure quality and efficiency standards are met.
• Perform routine quality inspections using precision measuring tools, gauges, and metrology equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and basic GD&T requirements.
• Troubleshoot machine and process issues to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
• Utilize CMM equipment and SPC methods when applicable to verify part quality and process performance.
• Record production data, quality checks, and process adjustments accurately.
• Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
• Assist with continuous improvement and LEAN manufacturing initiatives.
• Work closely with technicians, engineers, and production team members to improve processes and machine performance.
• Develop technical skills and prepare for future advancement opportunities within the organization.

Qualifications

• Previous CNC machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with automated machinery.
• Familiarity with precision measuring equipment and quality inspection processes.
• Understanding of blueprint reading and basic GD&T concepts.
• Experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and production processes.
• Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing practices is preferred.
• Exposure to automation systems, PLCs, robotics, VFDs, CMMs, or SPC is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical training or education in Machining, Manufacturing Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Experience working with automated production equipment.
• Interest in advancing into Process Technician, Manufacturing Engineering, or Process Engineering roles.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
