Surgical Care Coordinator

Surgical Care CoordinatorWe are seeking a detailed-orientated, strong team player and highly organized candidate to join our group as a Surgical Care Coordinator. You are responsible for the coordination and education of services for our patients’ having surgery with our Orthopedic/Spine Physicians. You will play a vital role in patient scheduling, procedure coordination and surgery chart preparation.Key Responsibilities:Schedule patients for Orthopedic/Spine SurgeriesVerify patient’s insurance benefits and coverage; collecting any out-of-pocket patient responsibilitiesObtaining pre-operative clearances from Primary Care Providers, Cardiologist, Nephrologist, etcCoordinate with patients their pre-operative, surgery and post-operative appointments and requirementsCoordinate any preop testing and high-tech imaging required pre-operativelyCoordinating any changes with Physicians surgery schedule with Clinical Director and/or facilitiesPreparing weekly surgery charts for clinical team membersCommunicate effectively and efficiently with patients, providers, team members and facility staffEntering and updating patient information in the EMR systemMaintain HIPPA compliance and patient confidentiality at all timesAny other job duties as assignedRequired Skills & Qualifications:Customer Service ExperienceAnatomy knowledgeInsurance knowledgeExcellent oral and written communication & analytical skillsRequires adherence to all policies and procedures, including standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearanceAbility to multi-task efficiently and effectively, remain calm in busy or stressful situations and work well with minimal supervision; skill in exercising initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve practice objectivesKnowledge and adherence to HIPPA, Compliance and OSHAEducation & Experience:High school diploma or equivalentMinimum one year of experience as a Surgical CoordinatorExperience with EMR software preferred – AthenaExperience with Microsoft applications – Word, Excel, Office 365Benefits:401kHealth/Dental/Vision InsuranceShort-term/Long-term Disability InsuranceLife InsurancePaid time offUniform ReimbursementPaid holidaysWork Environment & Physical RequirementsOffice setting – sitting for long periods of timeTravel is required for training purposesJob Type:Full-timeMonday – Friday8 a.m. – 5 p.m., hour lunchSalary: commensurate with experience
