The intern will assist with daily cash management, financial analysis, liquidity monitoring, bank reconciliation, financial data entry, and support for internal and external presentations. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, has strong analytical skills, and is proficient in Microsoft Excel. This internship offers hands‑on experience in corporate treasury operations and is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing a degree in finance, economics, or a related field. Candidates who are interested in using AI tools to improve efficiency and streamline work processes are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Assist with daily cash management and liquidity monitoring. Perform financial analysis and support bank reconciliation. Enter and update financial data in relevant systems. Prepare and support internal and external presentations. Participate in process improvement initiatives and explore AI tools to increase efficiency. Required Education Registration as a full‑time student (minimum of 12 units) at a resident academic institution in a declared curriculum that will provide the specific skills and knowledge required for the role. Desirable Qualifications Junior standing in college. Majoring in finance, economics, accounting, mathematics, business administration, or a similar degree. Experience in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, PowerBI, or SAP. Strong attention to detail. Interest in process improvement and utilizing AI for efficiency. Good communication and organizational skills. Internship Program Requirements Students must be able to commute to the SMUD Offices in Sacramento, CA when requested to come in. Students must not have any relatives working at SMUD. Students must maintain full‑time enrollment with at least 12 undergraduate units (or 8 graduate units) and a minimum 2.0 GPA in the semester/quarter prior to employment and for the duration of the internship. During the summer, students can work up to 130 hours per month. Applicants who require sponsorship from an employer are not eligible for these positions.
