As Assistant Medical Director at our Center for Autism Services, Science, and Innovation (CASSI), you’ll blend clinical practice, leadership, and innovation at one of the country’s most dynamic centers for developmental care.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
Medical program policy development and implementation, ensuring alignment with institutional standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices
Designing and implementing innovative systems to improve clinical efficiency, access, and provider productivity across service lines
Medical oversight of access and triage, applying clinical judgement to referral routing, prioritization, and complex edge-case decisions to ensure equitable, medically appropriate care
Medical faculty support and engagement, including leading monthly physician/APP meetings, supporting clinical decision-making, and serving as a point of escalation for day-to-day clinical issues
Quality, safety, and compliance overnight, including chart review, response to patient complaints, guidance on documentation and coding practices, and identification and mitigation of clinical or institutional risk
Establishing and reinforcing clinical standards, reducing unwarranted practice variation and supporting consistent, high-quality care delivery across providers
Close coordination with nursing leadership to align workflows, staffing models, and interdisciplinary care delivery
Partnership with the Director of Clinical Operations (Ericka) on systems-level design changes that impact multidisciplinary care, scheduling, intake processes, and overall clinical operations within CASSI
Provider capacity and productivity management, including oversight of templates, available hours, productivity expectations, and capacity planning
Recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention of physicians, NPs, and PAs, including support during early clinical integration
Education and training oversight for residents and fellows rotating through CASSI, including working with CSCs to develop schedules, identify appropriate preceptors, orient trainees to the program, facilitate scheduling, and communicate performance concerns or educational issues to program directors
Change management and communication, serving as a stable medical point of contact during staffing transitions, workflow changes, and program growth
Clinical growth and program development, identifying opportunities to expand services, improve access, and support sustainability of the medical program
Representation of the medical program in institutional committees, cross-department initiatives, and communication with referring providers and partners, as needed
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, candidates with a psychiatry background are strongly preferred, as this expertise would enhance support for psychiatry-specific clinical, operational, and regulatory needs and strengthen integration of psychiatric services within CASSI

In compliance with the Maryland Pay Transparency act, Kennedy Krieger includes the wage range for all posted jobs. These ranges are based upon the American Academy of Medical Colleges (AAMC) scales and represent a good faith estimate of the base wage range at the time of posting. For this position, the annual wage range is $120,791 to $343,304. The actual wage will be influenced by factors such as faculty appointments, credentials, research experience, and specific expertise. This wage range does not include bonuses, incentives, differential pay, or other forms of compensation which may be eligible for this position.
