Food Safety & Quality Control Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Food Safety & Quality Control Manager to lead and strengthen food safety and quality programs within a growing manufacturing operation.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands that food safety is more than documentation—it requires strong systems, consistent execution, employee training, auditing, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the operation.

The Food Safety & Quality Control Manager will oversee food safety programs, manage quality personnel, support internal and external audits, and partner with leadership to identify improvements across production, inventory, warehouse, and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, implement, and continuously improve food safety and quality-control programs.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures supporting manufacturing operations.
• Train employees on food safety requirements, protocols, policies, and procedures.
• Monitor ongoing compliance across departments and shifts.
• Conduct internal audits and coordinate required external audits.
• Manage communication with internal and external parties regarding food safety programs and compliance.
• Interpret and implement SQF food safety program guidelines.
• Identify opportunities to improve food safety, quality, inventory control, warehouse operations, and related processes.
• Provide regular program updates and recommendations to company leadership.
• Lead and support Quality Control staff, including QC Assistant and QC Technician functions.
• Ensure quality and food safety responsibilities remain covered across all shifts.
• Serve as backup support for critical QC functions when necessary.
• Anticipate potential issues and implement solutions before they impact operations.

These responsibilities come directly from the company's emphasis on SQF implementation, audits, training, process improvement, and management of QC personnel across shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience with food safety, quality control, manufacturing, operations, or a related environment.
• Knowledge of third-party food safety certification programs such as SQF.
• Strong analytical, organizational, project-management, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to identify and implement process improvements.
• Self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of projects that may not be fully defined.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing operational circumstances.
• Experience within manufacturing or production environments.
• Associate or bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, or related discipline.
• Advanced proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and internet-based applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Spanish language skills preferred but not required.
