SQL Database Administrator with legacy experience

Overview Full-time SQL Database Administrator with legacy experience. This project is to refresh the client’s Workers Compensation System and supporting applications to updated technology and client standards. The project will update the user interface, application and database using ASP.NET, MVC 5, C# and SQL with an MS-SQL backend. The resource will be responsible for database work related to the solution, under the client’s direction. The resource will help design and review tasks related to the WORCS web portal with a focus on database, conversion and data synchronization. They will perform initial data conversion between the current WORCS database (Mainframe) and the WORCS refresh database (SQL) using SQL Server Integration Services. Tasks will be executed in accordance with the client’s Project Management Methodology (PMM) and Systems Engineering Methodology (SEM). The senior resource must take ownership of the database and associated processes, work with the architect and business analyst, and maintain responsibility for database integrity, synchronization across environments, performance and standards adherence. The resource should be proactive in improving the database, technical processes and customer relationships. Responsibilities Assist with the design of a highly available fault-tolerant database infrastructure and participate in technical design activities. Optimize data access for a web portal application, leveraging SQL features to reduce latency and improve performance. Create and maintain database projects (tables, indexes, partition types, keys, foreign keys/constraints, segment type and size, etc.). Develop processes to replicate production databases (denormalized to normalized) and help layout application schemas and database files. Define and maintain database roles and permissions for application objects. Develop and execute a statistics collection plan for application objects based on volume and query type (e.g., timing of statistics collections, lock statistics). Review backup policy with management and senior staff; suggest schedules to avoid conflicts with application processes. Review SQL execution plans on critical application queries; assist with application code testing during releases or database upgrades to avoid performance issues. Support bulk data uploads and infrastructure optimization and design to identify bottlenecks, improve responsiveness and reduce single points of failure. Develop SQL Server Integration Services packages to facilitate data conversion from the legacy system into the SQL Server relational database. Qualifications Experience with database development with SQL Server Management Studio, including creating models and designing database objects (tables, indexes, etc.). Required 5 Years. Experience writing database procedures, functions and triggers. Required 5 Years. Experience developing solution architecture from business requirements, information architecture and technical architecture. Required 5 Years. Advanced SQL knowledge, software configuration and setup of SQL translations between legacy and refresh databases. Required 5 Years. Advanced SQL knowledge with data modeling and version control. Required 5 Years. Understanding of SQL Server database projects and version control processes. Required 5 Years. MS-SQL database administrator experience including creating models, DB objects and use in version control. Required 10 Years. Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for ETL, including complex multi-step packages and performance optimization. Required 5 Years. Experience as a database architect developing solution architecture from business requirements, information and technical architecture. Required 5 Years. Experience with large, complex stored procedures, tuning SQL for optimum performance. Required 5 Years. Experience creating and maintaining proper indexes. Required 5 Years. Experience with version control systems (TFS preferred). Required 5 Years. Experience monitoring application-related jobs and data replication activities. Required 5 Years.
