Job Summary Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Billing Manager to oversee our medical billing operations. The Billing Manager is responsible for directing the daily operations of the billing and collections department. Key objectives include maximizing cash flow, maintaining compliance with federal and state healthcare regulations (such as HIPAA), and fostering positive relationships with residents, insurance payers, administrators, Archdiocese Finance Office and co-workers. Responsibilities Oversee the entire billing cycle, from clean claim submission to final payment posting. Recruit, train, and mentor billing staff; set performance goals and conduct regular performance reviews. Monitor and analyze claim denials; develop strategies to appeal rejected claims and minimize future errors. Ensure all billing practices adhere to HIPAA guidelines and government payer (Medicare/Medicaid) regulations. Ensure all regulatory filings (ie Medicare revalidation, PECOS, Medicaid revalidation, etc. are completed accurately and timely) Prepare and present monthly reports on accounts receivable (A/R) aging, collection rates, and overall revenue metrics to senior management. Prepare documents necessary for Medicare and Medicaid cost reports. Establish and update standard operating procedures for billing and collections to improve efficiency. Act as a liaison with insurance companies to resolve complex billing issues and negotiate contracts. Assures Finance Office equipment is maintained and in good working condition. Assures Finance Office co-workers comply with all policy and procedure. Performs annual performance evaluations of Finance Office staff. Perform other duties as assigned. Experience and Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. At least 5 years of experience in medical billing (skilled nursing preferred), with 3+ years in a supervisory or management role. Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid compliance requirements. Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR). Experience with Matrix strongly preferred. Demonstrate competence and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong ability to analyze data trends and identify operational deficiencies.
