Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our facilities maintenance team. The Custodian will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across various facility areas. This role requires a proactive approach to cleaning, sanitation, and minor maintenance tasks to ensure the highest standards of hygiene and safety are upheld. The ideal candidate will possess strong custodial experience, familiarity with cleaning equipment and chemical handling procedures, and a commitment to safety protocols.

Duties

Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of floors, restrooms, offices, and common areas using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment such as floor buffers and scrubbers.
Handle various cleaning supplies and chemical agents safely, adhering to all chemical handling safety procedures.
Conduct heavy lifting tasks following safe lifting practices to move furniture, supplies, or equipment as needed.
Maintain cleanliness of floors through buffing, stripping, waxing, and other floor care techniques to ensure a polished appearance.
Assist with minor facilities maintenance tasks including residential painting touch-ups or repairs to ensure a well-maintained environment.
Operate cleaning equipment efficiently while adhering to safety protocols to prevent accidents or injuries.
Support industrial or commercial cleaning projects by utilizing specialized tools and techniques.
Follow established sanitation standards and safety guidelines to prevent contamination or hazards.
Collaborate with team members to ensure all areas meet cleanliness standards and respond promptly to custodial requests.

Experience

Prior custodial or janitorial experience in commercial, industrial, or residential settings is highly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, scrubbers, and vacuums.
Knowledge of chemical agent handling safety procedures and proper use of cleaning supplies.
Experience with facilities maintenance tasks including minor repairs or painting is advantageous.
Familiarity with safety protocol adherence related to heavy lifting, chemical handling, and equipment operation.
Strong customer service skills for interacting professionally with staff and visitors.
Proven ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while maintaining efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
