Plant Operations & Materials Coordinator

Job Description

Job Description

Grow into Operations Leadership in the East Valley

Join a fast-growing manufacturer in the East Valley as a Plant Operations & Materials Coordinator. You’ll partner directly with the Operations Manager, spend meaningful time on the production floor, and build the skills to step into future leadership. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands how product flows from receiving through production, quality, inventory, and final shipment—and isn’t afraid to jump in where needed.

A Day in the Life

You start by reviewing the production schedule with the Operations Manager, checking staffing coverage, and confirming workflow priorities. A supplier pings you about a revised lead time—you adjust purchase orders, update the plan, and notify Production. Mid-morning, you’re on the floor clearing a bottleneck and verifying safety, housekeeping, and quality standards. After lunch, you run cycle counts, analyze scrap trends, and finalize daily metrics for leadership. Before you wrap, you coordinate with Warehouse, Quality, Purchasing, and Customer Service to keep orders on track, then lend a hand in packaging to hit a critical ship window.

What You’ll Own Operations & Production Support

• Assist with daily schedules, labor coverage, and shifting priorities alongside the Operations Manager.
• Bridge communication across Production, Warehouse, Quality, Purchasing, and Customer Service to ensure on-time fulfillment.
• Track progress, surface bottlenecks, and help implement quick countermeasures.
• Champion continuous improvement to boost efficiency, quality, and reduce waste.
• Reinforce safety, housekeeping, and quality requirements on the floor.

Inventory & Materials

• Keep tabs on raw and finished goods levels and flag replenishment needs.
• Conduct cycle counts and audits; investigate and correct variances.
• Proactively identify potential shortages and coordinate recovery plans.

Purchasing & Supplier Follow-Up

• Create and maintain purchase orders; monitor pricing, lead times, and deliveries.
• Align material availability with production requirements.

Reporting & Process Improvement

• Track and report output, inventory accuracy, scrap, and on-time delivery on a daily/weekly/monthly cadence.
• Analyze production and materials issues and propose practical fixes.
• Support lean and 5S initiatives across the plant.

Cross-Functional Support

• Assist with onboarding, training logistics, and workforce planning.
• Step in on production, packaging, shipping, or material handling when needed.

• Comfort spending a significant portion of the day on the production floor.
• Clear communicator, organized, and able to self-manage.
