Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting young learners as a Sign Language Interpreter within a dynamic elementary school environment near Mooresville, NC. This full-time, on-site role serves an individual student at Troutman Elementary, spanning the 2026-2027 academic year from August 3, 2026, to May 28, 2027. Your expertise will play a key role in fostering communication, inclusion, and independence for a student who relies on your interpreting skills.

What We're Looking For:

Valid licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter.
EIPA score of 3.5 or higher; candidates with RID certification are also welcome to apply, even without the EIPA.
Previous experience working in educational or school settings is highly valued.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all student interactions.
Punctuality and readiness to be present before students arrive each day.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both in American Sign Language and English.
Commitment to an on-site presence Monday through Friday, 35 hours weekly, with a schedule of 7:00 am – 2:30 pm.

Role Highlights:

Provide direct interpreting services in the classroom and related school activities.
Foster accessible communication between the student, peers, and school staff.
Support the student’s educational and social development by facilitating engagement and participation.
Prepare in advance for daily assignments to ensure seamless support as soon as the student arrives.
