Environmental Health and Safety Manager

The Health & Safety Manager is primarily responsible for supporting effective operations by planning, overseeing, and executing company-wide Health & Safety programs. Responsible for assessing Health & Safety needs based on regulatory requirements, communicating and developing action plans, budgets, policies and procedures, programs, systems, and best practices with Executive Officers and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations. Adhere to company mission statement as well core values and maintains a high ethical standards and professionalism in all business interactions Coordinate with Executive Officers, staff and stakeholders to execute company mission statement and to establish, update and implement company-wide Health & Safety procedures and develop documentation that reduces or eliminates existing Health & Safety hazards Understand compliance requirements governing the medical marijuana businesses, including the following types of regulatory agencies: Office of Compassionate Use, OSHA, Fire Department(s), City Zoning and Planning Department(s), Florida Department of Health, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and more Responsible for understanding regulatory requirements and company policy to act as a subject matter expert for regulatory requirements, legal updates, and best practices while coordinating with department managers to provide information to employees company-wide Identify and develop industry-leading Health & Safety best practices with regulators and stakeholders Identify workplace hazards through performing safety inspections; Manage employee Health & Safety training programs, maintains training records, and provides training to employees, including basic OSHA training and First Aid/CP Responsible for OSHA compliance, completing OSHA 30-hour General Industry Training and renewing every 4 years Responsible for legal compliance with Health & Safety regulatory requirements, by researching, auditing and verifying a variety of data Act as a primary point of contact for Workers’ Compensation Insurance, OSHA, CDPHE and other Health & Safety regulatory agencies; Assists with audits, inspections and investigations by regulatory agencies Performs research and coordinates with facility managers to gather information and observe employee activity to investigate accidents and injuries, and determine compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and company policy Complete recordkeeping to including writing a variety of reports including Accident Reports, Health & Safety Violation Reports and others, as well as completing required Health & Safety forms, such as OSHA 300 & 300A Review Accident Reports, Incident Reports and other employee-completed documentation, as part of the investigation process Adapt to a variety of working environments including offices, warehouses and manufacturing facilities, with the ability to gather information from a range of employees Ensure compliance with all local, State and Federal regulatory agencies, including licenses, permits, and other authorizations related to Health & Safety Responsible for coordinating with regulatory agency personnel to schedule annual inspections, audits, and facilitate random inspections Ensure completion of action items from inspections and audits to maintain or achieve compliance Research and coordinate the purchase of Health & Safety equipment and supplies for the Compliance Department All other job duties, as assigned Note: The statements above are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to the job. Education Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred Training & Certifications Must maintain current knowledge of and adhere to all policy and regulations of the Florida Office of Compassionate Use; Florida Department of Health (DOH), Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); First Aid, CPR National Association of Safety Professionals Licensed Safety Professional®, Certified Safety Manager® or other certification, preferred. Required Skills & Experience Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing safety programs; Warehouse or manufacturing industry experience with a focus on OSHA regulations; Excellent computer, mathematical, language, and reasoning skills; High-level attention to detail, administrative skills, problem-solving skills and highly organized; Experience using Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with current versions; Ability to follow established company protocol for digital and printed document storage; Knowledge of OSHA regulations, HIPAA, DOH and DEP requirements; Ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision. Preferred Skills & Experience Previous marijuana industry experience preferred with priority given to candidates with experience in licensed facilities; Retail, operations and/or security experience is a plus. Physical Requirements Must be able to individually lift up to 25 lbs.; Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, and lift for long periods of time.
