Middle School Math Teacher# Middle School Math TeacherMcDonogh School - Owings Mills, MD 21117## OverviewSalary Range$55,000.00 - $70,000.00 Salary/year## DescriptionAn ideal full-time Middle School Mathematics teacher is dynamic, has the ability to teach all levels of mathematics courses including Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometery and is interested in developing strong problem-solving and communication competencies in students. The teacher will work with our Middle School students in grades 5 through 8.**Essential Functions*** Inspire, engage, and encourage students in the study of Mathematics* Serve as an advisor; contribute to the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth of adolescents* Collaborate with colleagues to integrate math into other subject areas* Work collaboratively with colleagues both inside and outside the Math department* Express a clear interest in becoming an active member of the McDonogh community by participating in school activities and working with students outside of the classroom* Demonstrate a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.* Respond to the needs of the School, including but not limited to, service learning, coaching, assigned duties, and other areas as determined by the Middle School Head* Compensation will be offered in the range of $55,000- $75,000. Individual offers will be specific, and based on education, experience, and benchmarking parameters.## Qualifications#### **Recommended Employment Qualifications**A bachelor's degree and (preferably) coursework in the teaching of Mathematics.#### **Additional Experience*** Demonstrated ability to collaborate and create engaging interdisciplinary units, projects, and/or courses* Looking for a minimum of 2 years experience teaching, preferably in a Middle School.* Must have an understanding of Google Suite tools, major LMS platforms, and other emerging technologies* Must have experience or be interested in working as an advisor to a small group of students#### **Additional Requirements*** A positive disposition and a strong desire to work as part of a high-functioning team* A strong work ethic, and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion at all times* Ability to differentiate based on student needs* Ability to effectively collaborate with other constituents within the McDonogh community* Ability to generate and facilitate civil discourse in the classroom* Ability to work in a diverse environment and inclusive culture that values and respects difference across race, ethnicity, religion, and orientation or identity.* Conflict resolution skills* Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development* Excellent written and verbal communication skills* Familiarity with independent schools and previous experience in an educational setting is preferred* Interest or experience in leading a math club (Math Olympiad, etc.)* Must be able to comply with background check, including finger prints, as required by the agency and / or state regulations.* Must be engaged and interested in STEM initiatives, Project-based learning, and 21st century skills* Must have organizational skills and attention to detail* Must have proven problem solving skills, be self motivated, and adaptable* Must lead with vision, integrity, enthusiasm, humor, savvy, and humility* Must possess personal qualifications as required, flexibility, patience, good personal hygiene and physical and mental health that do not interfere with responsibilities.* Overtly supports and acts in accordance with the School's mission* Years of subject matter experience, specifically teaching Math#### **Working Conditions**Lifting and carrying of equipment is not typical, but may be required on rare occasions.
