Account Manager - Containerboard

Smurfit Westrock is a leading North American containerboard and kraft paper producer serving packaging markets through high-quality, performance-driven paper solutions.

The Account Manager for Containerboard and Strategic Sales will seek exposure to trim optimization, trade relationships, and strategic customer management; critical components of our overall sales efforts. This role offers a clear pathway to more senior sales leadership roles based on future performance.

The Account Manager, Containerboard Strategic Sales, will gain direct exposure to senior sales leadership and strategic commercial decision-making, hands-on development in containerboard trim placement and trade sales concepts. In addition, you will have structured learning with mentorship and compliance training. This role is a clear advancement pathway into broader account responsibility or senior sales roles, and the chance to work in a collaborative, performance-driven commercial environment.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

• Support commercial leaders in managing strategic containerboard customer relationships
• Assist with optimization of containerboard volumes, including strategically critical trim opportunities
• Develop working knowledge of industry, trade, sales dynamics and integrated peer relationships
• Coordinate with planning, logistics, and customer service to align supply and demand
• Engage extensively with customers and manufacturing locations through heavy travel
• Prepare commercial analysis, forecasts, and internal reporting to support decision-making
• Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity

What you need to succeed:

• Bachelor's degree required
• Approximately 5+ years of B2B sales experience in manufacturing
• Experience in commercial support and/or supply-chain are a valuable addition
• Strong analytical, organizational, and relationship-building skills
• Comfort operating in a fast-paced, relationship-driven commercial environment
• Willingness to travel extensively; geographic location is flexible
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and business intelligence and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Qlik)
• Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce) and modern productivity tools, including emerging A.I. capabilities
