Registered Nurse, Operating Room – San Luis Obispo, California, United States
Travel assignment starting 08/31/2026 for 13 weeks
Weekly pay: $541–$547 per week
Guaranteed hours: 40 per week
Shift: 16-hour days (schedule may rotate; open to 4x10s)
Setting: Short Term Acute Care Hospital operating room

Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists and coordinate flow of equipment, supplies, and staff during operative procedures.
- Ensure patient safety throughout the perioperative phase and participate in patient care planning, assessment, and nursing treatment.
- Prepare patients for surgery, including safe positioning and preparation, and maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures.
- Circulate in the Operating Room, operate routinely used equipment, and safely dispose of biohazardous materials.
- Document intraoperative care, including tissue handling and logbook documentation as required; access and utilize relevant information systems for patient care.
- Respond to emergent situations, support emergency preparedness, and uphold life safety standards; participate in unit- and hospital-wide safety initiatives.
- Maintain communication with the broader perioperative team to ensure efficient throughput and patient-centered care.

Requirements
- Active RN license in California (state of practice)
- BLS required; ACLS and PALS required per shift policy
- OR experience: at least 1 year of full-time operating room experience
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
- Ability to circulate in the OR and perform pre-, intra-, and post-procedure patient care planning and assessment
- Ortho, Neuro, and Trauma experience preferred; strong knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical instrumentation
