Milk Bank Tech - Part-Time Day/Eve

ChristianaCare is currently recruting for a Milk Bank Tech. In this role the Milk Bank technician will process, store and disburse breast milk or specially prepared formula under the direction and guidance of the Milk Bank Coordinator and/or Senior Milk Bank Technician. Other responsibilities include:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs all processing and storage of breast milk and specially prepared formula accordingdepartmental practices and protocols. Maintains accurate records of milk inventory. Performs activities in compliance with established safety and infection prevention policies. Maintains and attitude of helpfulness, courtesy and cooperation towards patients, families, physicians and the public. Protects the confidential basis of patient/family information at all times. Maintains cost containment for department. Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors. Performs clerical duties as necessary. Performs other related duties as required/assigned.

SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS

Frequent contact with patients, families, donors, potential donors, the healthcare team, colleagues, Milk Bank Coordinator, nursing leadership, and Physician Director of Milk Bank.

DIRECTION/SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, Milk Bank Coordinator and Physician Director of the Milk Bank.

SHIFTS/HOURS

48hrs/pay period Schedule varies - 7a-3p, 8a-4p, 10a-6p. Rotation Weekend and Holiday Commitment: Every Weekend and Every other Holiday

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

High School Education. Related experience preferred. Proficient in mathematics. Computer and typing experience. Electronic medical record and or inventory exposure preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

Ability to organize and complete the processing and storage of breast milk and specialty formulas. Ability to maintain adequate supplies and equipment in milk bank. Ability to keep accurate records of milk inventory. Ability to use appropriate safety and infection prevention measures. Ability to maintain positive peer communication and relationships. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality. Ability to carry out cost containment measures. Ability to perform mathematic skills. Ability to perform computer skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, twist, handle, stoop, climb as per unit base Physical Demands Checklists.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Frequent exposure to biological elements with occasional exposure to chemical and environmental elements as per unit based Physical Demands Checklist. Hourly Pay Range: $18.19 - $26.37This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
