Head of Finance and Operations

the client is seeking a VP of finance and operations leader responsible for overseeing finance, accounting, logistics, supply chain, and distribution operations. This role is expected to be hands-on from day one, implementing best practices and optimizing departmental performance in a fast-paced environment. The leader will act as an executive partner, working closely with ownership to identify value creation opportunities and plan and implement new initiatives. Key responsibilities include establishing management best practices, clear measurable objectives, and KPIs across departments to align execution with broader strategic goals. The role will implement finance and accounting best practices such as timely month-end closing, standardized accounting procedures and templates, weekly cash flow forecasting, and a budget process with department-level accountability, supported by strong internal financial controls. The leader will manage internal and external financial reporting and accounting deadlines, serve as a primary point of contact for third-party financing stakeholders, provide monthly and quarterly reporting and compliance materials, monitor covenant compliance, and develop expertise in relevant credit agreements. The VP of finance and operations will also manage cross-functional relationships with operations and core supplier partners to strengthen collaboration and information sharing. The position includes coaching and strategic direction for teams covering purchasing, IT, warehouse operations, finance, and HR administration, along with oversight of vendor contract commitments and expenditures in coordination with purchasing. Additional duties include overseeing payroll and employee benefits administration, supporting recruitment and onboarding (including contractors as appropriate), managing finance and operations staff across different engagement types, and overseeing inventory purchasing, forecasting, and planning with regular demand updates to maintain healthy in-stock rates.
