Associate Research Coordinator

The institution values equity and inclusion for faculty, staff, and students of all identities. Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Associate Research Coordinator. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for providing basic to moderate coordination for research studies conducted at the Medical Center. Responsibilities include assisting with recruitment, enrollment, grant submissions, research data collection, and study coordination. The coordinator performs intra‑operative monitoring, serves as liaison with the IRB and funding agencies, and ensures accurate execution of research protocols in accordance with Good Clinical Practices, HIPAA, and other obligations to patients, Principal Investigators, research teams, and sponsors. The individual works under general supervision. Job Responsibilities Maintain up‑to‑date regulatory documents and stay aware of study regulatory status. Assist with the informed consent process, ensuring patients fully understand requirements, and follow up with patients to remind them of visits and compliance. Possess or acquire clinical competency in EKG, phlebotomy, centrifuge, specimen handling, storage, and shipping. Training and certification will be provided. Engage in continuous learning and provide evidence of ongoing research education each year. Training programs are available through the SOM. Gather, compile, and assist in analyzing data for presentation to sponsoring and regulatory agencies. Prepare reports and preliminary measurement reports for review by the Principal Investigator. Assist in the preparation of grant applications, proposals, and related activities, including collecting required paperwork for submission and coordinating progress reports to sponsors. Develop draft budgets, assist in preparing funding reports, and help identify new potential sponsors or agents for trials and research opportunities. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required. Ensure compliance with human subjects research requirements, including updating and submitting necessary documents to the NYU IRB, Office of Clinical Trials, and other parties, securing signatures, and providing enrollment statistics. Collect patient information for research projects, including chart abstraction of laboratory or diagnostic results, treatment details, adverse drug reactions, and data for publications. Maintain and audit databases or case report forms, conduct study visits, capture data within specified time frames, and perform preliminary analyses. Screen potential patients for eligibility, schedule initial visits, and coordinate all elements of the screening process with the Principal Investigator, including inclusion/exclusion criteria, informed consent, documentation, and willingness to participate. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, allied health, or a related field and 0‑1 year of experience (or equivalent education and experience). Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work under supervision. Proficiency in operating research‑related equipment and using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and internet applications. Strong problem‑solving, time‑management, and ability to work well under pressure. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of basic medical terminology. Prior experience with research protocols.
