Essential Duties Counsels students with learning, physical, social, and emotional problems through conferences held with the teacher, parent, Principal, and the Principal's referral. Works closely with classroom teachers to plan and implement guidance sessions tailored to the developmental needs of all students. Consults with classroom teachers, school principal, visiting teacher, school nurse's aide, nurse's assistant, and parents, relative to students and their problems. Provides planned occupational information programs to introduce students to the world of work. Maintains accurate and up-to-date permanent record folders. Coordinates and directs the standardized testing program in the school, and interprets test results to teachers, parents, and students. Enrolls and orients all new students to the school Acts as the liaison between the school and community agencies in working on student problems. Serves as a member of the Child Study Team and identifies, screens, and refers exceptional and/or at-risk students for evaluation and placement. Coordinates the efforts of all specialists working on a student case. Participates in and contributes to professional guidance and counseling organizations. Attends workshops and conferences to stay up to date on current guidance practices. Undertakes the continuous evaluation of: The nature and scope of the guidance services are outlined above. The functioning of guidance is an integral part of the total educational program. The effectiveness of guidance services. Performs other duties as assigned by the school principal.
