The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.Salary Range$85,600.00 - $141,200.00Target Openings1What Is the Opportunity?This role is eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $20,000.As a Technical Specialist, Specialty Liability, you will be responsible for managing and investigating moderate complexity injury and/or property damage claims including customer contact, determining coverage, evaluating liability, assessing damages, establishing timely reserves, and issue timely and accurate payments within appropriate authority and oversight. In this technical role, you will leverage your expertise in claims management, investigative techniques, coverage evaluation, and settlement negotiation to ensure timely and fair resolution. You will foster positive, professional relationships with customers and stakeholders on claims that may involve significant litigation or span extended periods. You will provide guidance and mentorship to Claim Reps and Associate Claim Reps, sharing knowledge and best practices to support their development.What Will You Do?Independently manage an active caseload of injury and/or property damage claims and litigation from first notice of loss through resolution within level of authority. Typically, handles personal and/or business insurance high complexity liability claims which may include coverage disputes and contractual indemnity issues.Gather and thoroughly investigate information by contacting all relevant parties to determine coverage, evaluate liability exposure, assess bodily injury and/or property damage, and establish appropriate reserves in accordance with policy terms and management guidance.Provide timely and professional communication to customers, representatives, opposing counsel, third-party vendors, and internal stakeholders.Leverage resolution strategies and coordinate internal and external resources to conduct comprehensive claim investigations and evaluations.Actively negotiate with multiple constituents (e.g., claimants, attorneys, contractors, representatives) and convey claim settlements within authority and issue payments timely and accurately.Assist in coordinating with Counsel to support litigation management strategies.Maintain accurate records of claim activity in claim management systems.Identify areas in which we can improve or enhance current best practices and offer creative solutions.Adapt to new technology implementations, system upgrades, and digital tool rollouts, particularly in the areas of AI while maintaining productivity and service quality.Acquire and maintain relevant Insurance License(s) to comply with state and Travelers’ requirements within three months of starting the job.May require travel, including overnight stays, to attend mediations, trials, arbitration, etc.Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?Bachelor’s Degree.Three years of liability, bodily injury or comparable claim experience.Two years of litigation claim experience.Active adjuster license, where required by state law.Experience with claims management systems, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office and enterprise technology systems and platforms.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to comprehend, synthesize, and clearly articulate complex information to multiple stakeholders.Ability to analyze complex situations, exercise sound judgement, and make effective decisions independently.Exceptional customer service skills and commitment to providing a positive experience for customers; ability to manage difficult conversations with empathy and professionalism.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage a high-volume workload and prioritize effectively.Proven conflict resolution and negotiation skills; ability to handle complex or disputed claims, negotiate settlements, and manage litigation.Ability to manage stress, navigate difficult situations, and maintain composure and professionalism under pressure while always taking accountability for decisions.Thorough understanding of insurance principles and terminology, state insurance regulations, fair claims practices, and legal requirements applicable to claim handling.Demonstrated ability to interpret, apply, and clearly articulate complex policy language, endorsements, exclusions to assess coverage and claim eligibility.Ability to quickly learn from experience and apply it to new situations with speed and flexibility.What is a Must Have?High School Diploma or GED.Two years of bodily injury liability, property damage liability, or comparable claim related experience.What Is in It for You?Health Insurance: Employees and their eligible family members – including spouses, domestic partners, and children – are eligible for coverage from the first day of employment.Retirement: Travelers matches your 401(k) contributions dollar-for-dollar up to your first 5% of eligible pay, subject to an annual maximum.
