L/S Investment Analyst - Biotech

A well established fundamental long/short equity investment firm seeking a Biotech Analyst to join its investment team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting in-depth research across the biotechnology sector, evaluating investment opportunities, and generating actionable long and short investment ideas.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fundamental research on biotechnology companies across multiple therapeutic areas.
• Evaluate clinical trial data, drug development pipelines, regulatory milestones, and commercial opportunities.
• Build and maintain detailed financial models, valuation frameworks, and scenario analyses.
• Identify potential catalysts and assess the risk/reward profile of investment opportunities.
• Develop differentiated long and short investment theses supported by rigorous research.
• Monitor portfolio holdings, industry developments, clinical readouts, and regulatory updates.
• Present investment recommendations and research findings to the portfolio manager and investment team.

Requirements

• Experience in biotech equity research, preferably within a hedge fund, asset manager, or sell-side research team.
• Strong understanding of drug development, clinical trials, and the biotechnology industry.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct fundamental analysis and develop independent investment views.
• Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
• Ability to interpret scientific data and translate complex information into actionable investment insights.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
