Sterile Processing Technician

Job Description:
Shift: Full-Time | Days | Monday-Friday, 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM

As a Sterile Processing Technician 2 , you are responsible for the decontamination, sterilization, processing, and distribution of medical equipment and instruments. You will also support the development of entry-level team members by mentoring and training Sterile Processing Technician 1 staff.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and arrange procedure and surgical rooms by organizing instruments, trays, and supplies according to department needs.
Clean and disinfect instruments using approved methods, detergents, and sterilization equipment.
Monitor and manage inventory by ordering, restocking, and distributing sterile and reusable medical equipment.
Comply with infection control, safety, and environmental standards to ensure high-quality patient care.
Mentor and train new and existing staff; lead in-service training sessions for team development.

Key Success Factors

Knowledge of sterilization processes, equipment handling, and infection prevention practices.
Understanding of basic medical terminology.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a respectful and professional demeanor.
Commitment to patient safety, manufacturer guidelines, and hospital protocols.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Experience:

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

Certification (One of the following required):

Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
Certified Board Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
