Reports to Head Softball Coach. Additional Basic Function – if applicable: Examples of Duties: Assist in coaching the softball team; utilize coaching and teaching methods to develop student-athletes' skills and teamwork. Assist with the development of team strategy; analyze performance of student-athletes. Scout and recruit student-athletes. Assist in fundraising activities to subsidize athletic program; assist in marketing and public relations activities to promote the program. Counsel and advise student-athletes with personal and academic problems. May supervise students and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis. Perform related duties as assigned. Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sports Administration, or related fieldand three months of experience coaching softball. Or a combination of coaching and playing experience at the professional or collegiate level equivalent to a total of four years. License/Certification: Knowledge Of: National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Mid-American Conference (MAC) rules and regulations * Skill In: Training or instructing student-athletes * Interpersonal communication * Basic computer skills * Ability To: Analyze situations and develop solutions * Travel and work non-traditional hours * Preferred Qualifications – if applicable: Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience. Assessments: Asterisk (*) indicates knowledge, skills, abilities which require assessments Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: Typically requires balance, strength, flexibility, and endurance sufficient to demonstrate, teach, and develop skills of student athletes. Must be able to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building and off-campus frequently.
