QUALIFICATIONS

Education High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, verified homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post‑secondary education) Some college preferred Experience Four years in patient access services such as registration, scheduling, insurance verification, etc. Skills and Abilities Demonstrates necessary competencies to safely perform the job, assessed through ongoing evaluations Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English, especially for patient or employee safety Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and coworkers using customer‑service focus and positive language Works independently and collaboratively in a team setting Handles challenging procedures and situations Exhibits strong judgment and above‑average patient access skills Basic computer knowledge; operates multiple systems including Hospital Information Systems and Office software Demonstrates strong interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills with all healthcare levels, ensuring excellent customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers Adapts to multiple priorities with minimal supervision, organizing workflow and solving problems Conducts self in a professional manner at all times Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills Positive demeanor, strong verbal and written communication, and excellent multitasking Handles confidential information professionally Works under pressure and balances competing priorities Comprehensive knowledge of patient access protocols and hospital policies

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

People Essential Functions Promotes a positive work environment, leading the team toward optimal results through communication and data reporting Serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff, orienting and guiding them to build confidence and competency Coordinates staff schedules to ensure daily coverage and smooth operations Models healthy work relationships, resolves conflicts, and recommends initiatives to improve employee engagement Service Essential Functions Coordinates and performs routine duties related to department functions and services, maintaining timelines for follow‑up and task prioritization Performs patient access duties such as registration, insurance verification, scheduling, etc. Identifies potential customer problems and resolves visitor and patient issues with professionalism and compassion; troubleshoots system or process errors as needed Serves as liaison among team members, management, physicians, and insurance providers, resolving routine matters and escalating to management when necessary Monitors and adjusts activities to ensure optimal patient throughput and experience, contributing to patient and physician satisfaction Quality/Safety Essential Functions Conducts quality audits on processes, outcomes, and team performance; documents, develops, and evaluates procedures; identifies corrective action opportunities and follows up to ensure completion Protects patient and family privacy, maintains confidentiality of records and computer security codes, and safeguards privileged information Assists with implementation and education of department initiatives, standards, and protocols; participates in quality improvement processes and training team members to improve outcomes Finance Essential Functions Reconciles and audits patient data through reporting tools, ensuring accurate documentation Monitors staffing and recommends schedule adjustments to support workflow variations, minimizing overtime and ensuring efficient labor cost utilization; reviews staff timecards for accuracy Manages supplies and resources, ordering as necessary Growth/Innovation Essential Functions Identifies innovative solutions to improve processes for patients, visitors, and the department; fosters a learning environment by engaging coworkers in valuable opportunities aligned with business objectives Pursues continuous professional development beyond baseline competencies, updating the My Development Plan regularly and discussing career goals with management
