About the Role:

The Rink Manager and Zamboni Operator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of an ice skating rink to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and well-maintained environment for all patrons. This role involves managing the ice surface quality through expert operation of the Zamboni machine, scheduling and coordinating rink activities, and supervising staff to maintain high standards of customer service and safety. The manager will also handle administrative duties such as budgeting, inventory management, and liaising with vendors and community organizations to promote rink programs and events. A key outcome of this position is to maximize rink usage and customer satisfaction while maintaining operational efficiency and compliance with safety regulations. Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to operate a Zamboni or similar ice resurfacing equipment.
• Previous experience in rink operations, facility management, or a related field with demonstrated knowledge of ice maintenance.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage staff and coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
• Basic mechanical aptitude to perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshoot minor issues.
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with customers, staff, and vendors.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in ice rink operations or facility management.
• Experience with budgeting, inventory management, and administrative software.
• First aid and CPR certification.
• Background in recreational program coordination or community engagement.
• Familiarity with local safety and environmental regulations specific to ice rink facilities.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain the Zamboni ice resurfacing machine to ensure a smooth, safe, and high-quality ice surface throughout operating hours.
• Manage daily rink operations including scheduling public skating sessions, hockey games, figure skating lessons, and special events.
• Supervise and train rink staff, including attendants and maintenance personnel, to uphold safety protocols and excellent customer service.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections of rink equipment and facilities, coordinating repairs as needed to prevent downtime.
• Handle administrative tasks such as budgeting, inventory control, vendor relations, and reporting to senior management or rink ownership.
• Ensure compliance with all local health, safety, and environmental regulations related to rink operations.
• Engage with the community and customers to promote rink programs, gather feedback, and enhance the overall user experience.
