Database Administrator

Job Family: Database Administration Travel Required: Up to 10% Clearance Required: Ability to Obtain Public Trust Responsibilities Strong knowledge and experience in Oracle PL/SQL and SQL. Participate in production implementations working closely with production support to ensure proper transition of system changes. Design, develop, and maintain scripts for automation, data processing, and database maintenance and monitoring solutions using PL/SQL, Perl, and shell. Perform general technical troubleshooting and provide consultation to development teams. Data analysis and debugging focusing on identifying data quality issues. Provide application troubleshooting support, identifying root causes and implementing permanent resolutions. Create and maintain technical documentation including system diagrams and operational procedures. Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve database and application performance issues with application, infrastructure, and support teams. Ensure database environments follow best practices for reliability, scalability, and security. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or four (4) additional years of experience in lieu of a degree. Minimum of four (4) to ten (10) years of relevant DBA experience. Ability to create, modify, and tune SQL queries and PL/SQL code. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve data, system performance issues. Knowledge of AWS cloud technologies such as RDS, Lambda, EC2, Redshift. Ability to work effectively independently and within cross‑functional teams. May require participation in a 24×7 on‑call rotation or overnight deployment. Strong expertise in Oracle performance tuning, SQL and PL/SQL optimization. In‑depth knowledge and hands‑on experience with Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, triggers, procedures, functions, and packages. Proficiency in SQL Developer, SQL Loader, and related Oracle tools. Excellent analytical, organizational, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills. Strong verbal and written communication and listening skills. Proven ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented environment with strong planning and coordination capabilities. High levels of self‑motivation and adaptability with the ability to meet aggressive deadlines. Ability to work independently with minimal direction. Solid understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC), including Agile and Waterfall methodologies. Demonstrated ability to research and resolve complex technical problems in a distributed and complex IT environment, collaborating with local and remote teams. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust. Candidates with an active Public Trust or suitability are preferred. Nice to Have Oracle database performance tuning experience. Experience with Grants.gov applications. Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting. Knowledge of AWS is a plus. Salary Annual salary range: $85,000.00 to $141,000.00.
