Per Diem RN - Urgent Care Center

Responsibilities Assist the physician and staff with the daily coordination of patient care and physician access. Function as the liaison between patients, staff, and physicians. Maintain efficient patient flow. Deliver direct patient care within the scope of licensure and in accordance with SMG policy. Collect and accurately label lab specimens according to departmental guidelines. Prioritize patient care by implementing physician orders and nursing procedures. Ensure proper preparation for patient visits and prepare pertinent information needed for each visit. Effectively communicate problems, concerns, or issues to the Office Supervisor/Manager appropriately and promptly. Assure all patients are correctly identified prior to providing or documenting care. Employ appropriate and timely use of tasking in the EHR. Obtain vital signs (BP, temperature, pulse, height & weight) accurately and completely as required. Document all patient care accurately in the EHR. Administer injections according to appropriate protocol and document injections accurately in the EHR. Demonstrate telephone triage protocols and document them in the EHR. Schedule appointments accurately according to department guidelines. Adhere to universal safety precautions when administering medications and disposing of medical waste. Review and update medication lists in the EHR. Demonstrate understanding of prescription control and prescription refill procedures. Accurately and completely document known allergies in the EHR. Appropriately enter orders and schedule appointments in the Practice Management System (PMS) and EHR. Provide referrals and consult orders in a timely manner through the PMS and EHR. Check and maintain logs for emergency equipment according to policy. Facilitate transition of care to urgent care centers or hospitals. Maintain proficiency with department‑specific equipment and troubleshoot/report malfunctions promptly. General Duties Assist in ordering and maintaining all supplies as assigned. Demonstrate flexibility with various work schedules. Perform other duties as required. Physical Job Requirements Pushing and pulling, taking frequency and weight into consideration. Physical strength to lift heavy objects, carts, or items, taking frequency and weight into consideration. Physical mobility, including movement from place to place on the job, taking distance and speed into account. Physical agility, including ability to maneuver body while in place. Dexterity of hands and fingers. Balance is maintained during climbing, bending, and/or reaching. Endurance (e.g., continuous typing, prolonged standing/bending, walking). Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. New Jersey State Nursing License and BLS certification required. 0–1 year of experience required; 2–4 years preferred. Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to use problem solving, critical thinking, and priority setting skills. Experience with standard office equipment (phone, fax, copy machine, scanner, email/voicemail) preferred. Experience with standard office technology in a Windows environment preferred. Experience with patient care equipment preferred. Experience with EHR, practice management system, and departmental/ancillary systems preferred.
