The focus is on creating a caring environment aimed at healing and wellness. Nursing practices are based on evidence, research, hospital policies, and professional guidelines. Clinical decision-making incorporates critical thinking and creativity. Nursing excellence is promoted through relationships with nursing staff and other disciplines. Responsibilities include coordinating and providing direct patient care. This involves nursing rounds, assessments, treatments, and facilitating patient activities. Patient and family-centered education is part of the role. Individualized treatment planning is developed as applicable. Comprehensive patient assessments are performed and documented according to policies. Cultural and developmental considerations are taken into account. Identifying patient risk factors and collecting health information from families is essential. A problem list is created, prioritizing needs based on inter-professional input. Desired outcomes are developed in coordination with patients and families. Patient care therapies and procedures are implemented with clinical autonomy. Explaining procedures and alleviating patient stress is a key responsibility. Changes in patient conditions are communicated appropriately. Ongoing assessments and responses to therapies are conducted and documented. Tasks are delegated and oversight is provided for team members. Educational needs of patients are identified and addressed. The discharge process is facilitated by executing discharge orders efficiently. Input into patient/nurse assignments is provided considering unit needs. Participation in unit activities supporting organizational values is encouraged. Promoting a positive and healing environment through actions and words is essential. Contributions to quality improvement activities and core measures are required. A holistic perspective on patient care is employed.
