At SSM Health St Anthony, we believe you deserve the flexibility to work a schedule that fits your life and to get paid when you need it.Job Summary:Under general direction, performs and interprets a variety of high complexity laboratory tests in one or more sections of the Cytopathology laboratory to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Procedures may include screening, preparation, processing, and reporting of specimens. Cytology or Cytopathology is diagnosing diseases by looking at single cells and small clusters of cells under a microscope.Job Responsibilities and Requirements:Initiates delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence in performing laboratory activities for patient population served.Establishes and implements a system for receipt, identification and control of specimens.Prepares specimens for analyses according to specifications.Selects, performs, monitors and evaluates cytochemical procedures for assessing cellular constituents.Examines microscopically stained smears for evidence of malignancy or abnormalities. Marks suspicious cells on slides for evaluation by the pathologist. Records test results according to established protocols.Prepares reagents according to prescribed direction; maintains reagent log and control system.Maintains equipment and instruments in good working order, and ensures appropriate levels of supplies and reagents are on hand.May perform administrative and clerical duties as needed.Assists in the proficiency testing program in the lab.Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.Performs other duties as assigned.Education:Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience and educationExperience:No experience requiredPhysical Requirements:Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
