Travel RN - Telemetry

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg/Telemetry RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring Med/Surg and telemetry experience with orthopedic and urology patient care skills.

Job Details

• Work in the Med/Surg/Telemetry/Urology unit of a hospital setting,
• 48-bed unit with an average census of 27 patients,
• Patient ratios of 1:5 during days and 1:6 during nights,
• Unit staffed with a unit secretary (7a-11p) and PCTs at approximately 1:10-15 ratio, with occasional 1:1 patient coverage,
• Uses Hoyer lift, automated BP machines, bladder scanner, remote telemetry monitoring, and vein finder equipment,
• NGT procedures performed on the unit,
• Documentation via Altera/Allscripts Sunrise EMR,
• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM,
• Every other weekend scheduling preferred,
• Floats to like Med/Surg/Tele units (D1, F2), with float pool staff floating before travelers,
• Participation in daily multidisciplinary rounds (MDR) on day shift Monday-Friday,

Job Requirements

• Active RN license (NH or Compact) required,
• BLS certification required,
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required,
• Med/Surg skillset including head-to-toe assessment and orthopedic care knowledge required,
• Experience with IV medication administration including Lasix drip, heparin drip, IVP metoprolol, diltiazem, and insulin (IV or subQ) required,
• Wound care experience including drain management and wound vacs required,
• NGT/G-tube care and parenteral nutrition experience required,
• Central line management experience (PICC, HD catheter, midlines) required,
• Foley, nephrostomy, and suprapubic catheter care experience required,
• Ostomy care and postoperative patient care experience required,
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration,
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months,

• Provide comprehensive Med/Surg and telemetry nursing care to an orthopedic and urology patient population,
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote patient care excellence,
• No required uniform, though scrubs and closed-toe shoes are expected (no crocs),
• Recently upgraded blood pressure machines and a supportive team environment,
• Strong employee retention and an established unit practice council with monthly meetings,
• Facility is new to the HCA family, and prior HCA experience is a plus,
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
