Boxing Coach Assistant

Summary Under direction and supervision, assists the Head Boxing Coach in developing a safe Boxing Program for the community. Examples of Duties Assist in monitoring boxing activities during training and practice sessions. Drive to off‑site practices, competitions, and trainings. Assist with instructing program participants in boxing, warm‑up, and conditioning exercises. Adhere to strict safety guidelines and protocols for the boxing program. Assist in set‑up and tear‑down of equipment and preparation of the boxing area for activities and events. Maintain equipment and facilities in a clean, safe, and secure condition. Assist the Head Boxing Coach in management of the Boxing Program. Perform other assigned duties as required. Typical Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 18 years of age. Two (2) years of progressive experience participating in a boxing program and certification under USA Boxing for at least two (2) years. Valid California driver’s license with satisfactory driving record. Valid CPR and First Aid certificates issued within the past 90 days, with required renewals. Knowledge Principles and practices of boxing programs. Proper boxing equipment and ability to set up equipment. Proper boxing techniques and fundamentals of standard safety procedures. Physical fitness. Ability Assist in implementation and teaching of boxing programs for youth, teens, and adults. Instruct participants on safe boxing techniques and physical training regimens. Maintain cooperative working relationships with city staff, volunteers, public groups, media and others contacted in the course of work. Ability to speak Spanish is highly desirable. Assist in developing programs consistent with needs and standards of the community. May travel on excursions and overnights. Publicize programs. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions. The employee regularly works in indoor conditions with moisture and odor and performs work requiring strength and stamina. There is a controlled risk of personal injury.
