Porter, In-School

Porters work on a team of 4-6 people who are responsible for helping to ensure that Red Rabbit's kitchen exceeds Department of Health standards and that all equipment is in working order for the kitchen to use each day.

The ideal candidate has experience maintaining the physical plant of a large warehouse environment, restaurant/kitchen, or hospital setting. In addition, strong candidates are reliable, energetic and have a "can-do" attitude.

Critical Functions

• Properly clean all areas of the kitchen to ensure that Red Rabbit is exceeding Department of Health standards. This includes countertops, cooking equipment, walk-in refrigerators, floors, hand sinks, dishes and storage areas.
• Remove trash, cardboard, and compost in a timely manner making sure the kitchen is clean and free from debris for food preparation
• Proactively work to ensure the kitchen team is set-up for meal production each day
• Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

• 1+ years of work experience in a restaurant, hotel or commissary kitchen
• Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and procedures, safety and sanitation regulations
• High School Graduate or equivalent relevant preferred
• Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and move from area to area in the kitchen
• Must be reliable, function well within a team, and work calmly and efficiently in a fast moving environment.
• Must operate proactively and with a sense of urgency and have attention to detail
• Must have a great attitude who contributes to a positive working environment
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Job Type: Full Time

Typical hours: 7:00am - 3:00pm, Monday - Friday

Location: Northeast Philadelphia, PA

Reports to: Head Chef

Compensation: $16.00 - $17.50 per hour Benefits
