Overview
Registered Nurse (Med Surg) – Stroke Stepdown in Utica, NY, start 07/06/2026 for 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $2,139–$2,226 per week with 36 guaranteed hours. Shift: Night shift on a block schedule (approximately 6:30 pm–7:00 am; 12x3). Setting: hospital, MS stroke stepdown unit caring for adults.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for adults on a Med Surg Stroke Stepdown unit, including neuro checks and ongoing assessment.
- Monitor and manage IV therapy, IV pumps, NG/feeding tubes, and other essential lines/equipment.
- Administer medications per physician orders and monitor for adverse reactions; implement stroke protocols and prevent complications.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and update patient care plans; communicate changes and progress to families as appropriate.
- Document in the EMR (EPIC) with accurate, timely entries; assist with discharge planning and care coordination.
- Respond to clinical changes, including early deterioration signs; participate in float coverage as needed to support unit staffing.

Requirements
- Current New York RN license (NURSYS verification for active licenses)
- 2+ years of Med Surg experience with stroke/stepdown exposure required
- NIHSS certification required (unit-specific; may be obtained prior to start)
- AHA BLS certification current at time of assignment
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- EPIC EMR experience; ability to document accurately and efficiently
- Valid driver's license and address must match demographics
- RTO (time-off) requests must be included at submission
- NY RN license and all active RN licenses must be verifiable
