Machine Operator / Fabricator
We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator / Fabricator to join our department. In this role, you will be responsible for the setup and operation of a wide range of machine tools to produce high-precision parts according to strict specifications. The ideal candidate possesses a strong mechanical aptitude, mathematical proficiency, and a commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Setup & Operation: Set up and operate various equipment, including 200-ton and 40-ton presses, Landis threading units, Bridgeport stations, Piranha Ironworkers, and various saws (Kalamazoo band saw, Kaltenbach miter saw).
- Precision Machining: Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and accessories.
- Technical Control: Calculate and set controls for speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth/angle of cut.
- Quality Assurance: Verify the conformance of finished workpieces to blueprints and specification sheets using precision measuring tools.
+2 - Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Assembly: Fit and assemble components into complete units, verifying final dimensions and alignment.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience: Technical school training or 6 months to 1 year of related fabrication experience (or an equivalent combination of both).
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, safety rules, and procedure manuals.
- Mathematical Aptitude: Proficient in geometry, trigonometry, fractions, and percentages to solve practical machining problems.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to regularly lift or move 60+ pounds and perform tasks involving reaching, kneeling, and crouching.
- Vision: Strong close vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
