Senior Principal AI Software Engineer

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We need someone with formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 10+ years of applied experience.
• We need a leader who is comfortable operating both at a strategic level and in the code, including reviews, pairing, and production debugging.
• We require strong expertise in one or more programming languages, specifically Java and Python.
• We are looking for experience designing and scaling data-intensive platforms, including data structures, pipelines, large-scale ingestion, and graph or dependency systems.
• We need practical experience delivering software from concept and design through development, testing, first release, operational stability, and continuous improvement.
• We value hands-on experience with AI-first development practices, using LLMs and agentic tools to accelerate software delivery.
• We require experience designing and scaling agentic AI-enabled development patterns across teams, with governance for human-in-the-loop validation, traceability, auditability, and secure handling of sensitive data.
• We need a strong understanding of responsible AI use at scale, including security, resilience, data sensitivity, and risk-based governance.
• We are seeking someone who can apply expertise and new methods to solve complex technology problems across multiple technical disciplines.
• We require extensive practical cloud-native experience on AWS.
• Preferred: experience with greenfield architecture.
• Preferred: experience delivering AI/ML solutions in financial services, capital markets, or operations-focused environments.
• Preferred: experience working in highly regulated environments with strong model risk, governance, or control expectations.

• We define and own the platform architecture across data ingestion pipelines, dependency graph modeling, and developer-facing APIs on AWS and Java.
• We serve as the technical authority for design decisions, performance challenges, and build-versus-buy evaluations.
• We partner with the Engineering Executive Director on technical strategy and roadmap planning.
• We mentor senior engineers and help raise the teams technical standards.
• We advise and lead strategy and development across multiple products, applications, and technologies within the portfolio.
• We create novel code solutions and drive new production code capabilities across teams and functions.
• We lead delivery of the core platform build-out, including ingestion pipelines, dependency graph modeling, developer-facing surfaces, and firm-wide integration.
• We set strategy and operating standards for agentic AI-enabled engineering across the portfolio to improve delivery speed, reliability, and code quality, while establishing guardrails for validation, security, resiliency, and reuse.
• We apply knowledge of software development life cycle tooling, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation at scale.
• We build an agentic-first development practice by embedding AI tools into how the team designs, codes, reviews, and ships.
• We operate as a senior engineering voice across teams beyond our direct organization and represent engineering in discussions with security, risk, compliance, and platform partners.
• We engage senior stakeholders with clarity and conviction, translating technical work into business impact.
