Description About BPI Medical BPI Medical is a leading provider of medical instrument and endoscope repair services. Founded in 1976 in Fife, Washington, we serve hospitals, surgery centers, and health systems across all 48 contiguous states with flexible endoscope repair, rigid endoscope repair, surgical instrument repair, power equipment repair, and mobile on-site service. We operate as an ISO 13485:2016 certified facility and are trusted by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, MultiCare Health System, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, and other anchor health systems to keep critical surgical and diagnostic equipment in service. Our work directly supports patient care: every device that comes through our facility goes back into service, often the same week, ready for the next procedure. The Role As the Operations Manager at BPI Medical, you lead the daily operations of our Flexible Endoscope, Rigid Endoscope, Power Equipment, and Instrument Repair departments, ensuring the efficient flow of work, high-quality repair outcomes, employee development, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. You serve as the primary operational leader for the department and partner closely with technical leadership to ensure repair processes, production goals, and quality standards are consistently achieved. You oversee workforce planning, production scheduling, process improvement initiatives, performance management, training coordination, inventory utilization, and departmental metrics. This role is critical to BPI Medical's continued growth: you align people, processes, and performance to deliver exceptional service to customers while supporting the long‑term scalability of the organization. The position requires a strong balance of leadership, operational execution, continuous improvement, and employee engagement. What You’ll Do Direct and manage daily activities across the Flexible Endoscope, Rigid Endoscope, Power Equipment, and Instrument Repair departments. Ensure work is prioritized and distributed effectively to meet customer commitments and turnaround time expectations. Monitor workflow, capacity, and resource allocation to maximize productivity and efficiency, maintaining visibility into repair volume, backlog, service levels, and production performance. Collaborate with department leaders to identify operational bottlenecks and implement solutions. Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, leads, and technicians, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and customer service. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback; partner with HR and leadership on employee relations, performance improvement plans, staffing initiatives, succession planning, and career development. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, productivity, quality, and profitability; develop and implement standardized processes, procedures, and work instructions. Utilize Lean, continuous improvement, or similar methodologies to streamline operations, and lead projects focused on operational scalability and business growth. Monitor departmental KPIs, including productivity, turnaround time, quality performance, rework rates, capacity utilization, employee retention, and customer satisfaction, and implement corrective actions when performance targets are not achieved. Ensure all repairs are completed in accordance with company quality standards and customer requirements, partnering with technical leadership to maintain repair consistency and workmanship standards. Support compliance with applicable regulatory, safety, and quality management requirements, and participate in quality investigations, corrective actions, and process audits as needed. Work closely with Customer Service, Sales, Purchasing, Inventory, and Technical Leadership teams to improve workflow and customer outcomes; support forecasting and workforce planning based on business demand. Develop and maintain departmental dashboards and performance reporting, and present operational updates and improvement recommendations to executive leadership. What You Bring Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, Healthcare Technology Management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered. 5+ years of leadership experience within manufacturing, repair services, medical device services, healthcare technology management, or a related operational environment. Proven experience managing teams and driving operational performance. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Experience developing processes, KPIs, and operational reporting. Demonstrated ability to lead change and continuous improvement initiatives. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Nice to Have Experience within medical device, surgical instrument, endoscope repair, or healthcare service environments. Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement training or certification. Experience working within ISO-regulated or quality-driven environments. Familiarity with ERP, service management, and production tracking systems. The work is a mix of sitting, standing, and walking, including regular movement throughout operational and warehouse areas, with the ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. A flexible work schedule, based on work-flow and hospital demand, is required. Every BPI team member is expected to perform each assigned task safely, 100% of the time, and to partner immediately with management to redesign any work activity that raises a safety concern.
