Location: New York, NY 10017
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Regular Hours: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM or 10:00 AM–6:00 PM
Weekend Coverage: Saturdays & Sundays, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM, as needed
Employment Type: Contract

Pay Rate: $18.00–$20.00/hour

We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant (MA) to support physicians and clinical teams in providing high-quality patient care and maintaining efficient day-to-day clinical operations.

The Medical Assistant will serve as a key liaison between physicians, patients, families, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other healthcare partners. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical and administrative skills, excellent communication abilities, knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA requirements, and experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.

• Coordinate daily activities of physicians and clinical staff to support efficient patient flow.
• Assist patients with check-in, rooming, mobility, transferring, dressing, and other care needs.
• Obtain and document patient vital signs.
• Assist physicians with examinations and clinical procedures.
• Collect and process specimens and perform point-of-care testing as assigned.
• Communicate physician instructions and relevant information to patients and families.
• Answer telephone calls and provide appropriate information while maintaining professional telephone etiquette.
• Maintain accurate patient medical records, including lab reports, X-rays, hospital notes, referrals, test results, and other documentation.
• Enter physician orders into the EMR system.
• Prepare prescription refill requests for physician review and approval.
• Schedule appointments, procedures, and surgeries as needed.
• Coordinate appointments and procedures with patients and appropriate clinical staff.
• Verify and update patient demographic, insurance, and registration information.
• Assist with insurance verification and pre-certification for procedures when required.
• Prepare examination rooms and instruments according to sterilization and infection-control standards.
• Monitor medical supplies, medications, and equipment.
• Maintain inventory and check expiration dates of supplies and medications.
• Maintain required logs for medication refrigeration, point-of-care testing, sterilization, crash carts, and other clinical processes.
• Follow applicable safety, infection-control, PPE, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements.
• Perform phlebotomy duties when required.
• Support the organization and maintenance of patient schedules and medical charts.
• Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to Level I Medical Assistant staff.
• Assist with directing MA schedules and workflow based on patient volume and practice needs.
• Provide effective clinical and administrative support to physicians and the overall practice.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Medical Assistant certification from an approved program or equivalent education, training, and experience.
• Minimum 3 years of Medical Assistant experience ; 5 years preferred .
• Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite .
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and/or billing systems preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience may be required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds and patients with language barriers.
• Excellent telephone etiquette and customer-service skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to adapt to a growing and changing healthcare environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate patient documentation.
