Substitute Administrator – Academic Services Compensation: $46.04 per hour (open to external candidates). Job Summary An individual in this role will support schools as a principal or assistant principal, providing strategic direction and overseeing the implementation of curriculum plans. The position ensures student learning experiences align with district mission and instructional goals and serves as the academic and administrative leader for an assigned elementary, middle, or high school.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct day‑to‑day building staff activities, including hiring, training, counseling, evaluating performance, and, when necessary, disciplining or terminating staff. Supervise the delivery of academic instruction to maintain learning experiences consistent with the mission statement and instructional goals. Guide the selection of professional development materials to support educators in delivering effective programs and services. Collaborate with the Area Superintendent to develop relationships with higher‑education partners for pre‑service and in‑service educator development. Provide instructional guidance to staff engaged in student instruction. Promote curriculum and instruction improvements within the building. Monitor student achievement and progress toward instructional goals, initiating corrective action as needed. Lead the development and execution of the building’s ASIP school improvement plan. Oversee the creation of the master schedule and coordination of class scheduling. Prepare and administer building budgets, ensuring expenditures remain within approved limits and that procurement of books, supplies, materials, and equipment is controlled. Plan, coordinate, and conduct staff development activities to address instructional needs. Monitor building safety, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local health and safety standards. Create and promote a positive, cooperative atmosphere that motivates students and staff, and enforce rules fairly and consistently. Ensure building compliance with regulatory requirements and district standards, taking corrective action as necessary. Manage or oversee a professional development budget for assigned educators. Support implementation of after‑school activities and events, attending and ensuring student behavior aligns with school expectations. Maintain accurate personnel, student, and fiscal records while protecting confidentiality. Prepare or oversee required documentation and reports. Maintain open communication with central office administrators, building staff, students, parents, and community members, articulating and promoting the building’s philosophy and mission. Facilitate positive school‑community relations by communicating school messages and responding promptly and courteously to inquiries. Resolve problems, situations, or issues in a collaborative, tactful, courteous, and respectful manner. Ensure departmental staff maintain required credentials and have ongoing development opportunities aligned with district strategies. Participate in district‑wide committees as assigned. Stay current with best practices, trends, and new developments in high‑school curriculum, instruction, and building administration, recommending and implementing necessary changes. Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Education or related field. Minimum of one year of experience as an assistant principal, principal, or in a comparable supervisory role. Valid Ohio Department of Education Principal License or equivalent. Demonstrated knowledge of accrediting and regulatory standards and district policies related to the assigned functions. Demonstrated supervisory skills for effective daily operations and administration of assigned functions. Interpersonal skills for productive communication with district staff, students, parents, and the public. Ability to handle problem situations in a tactful, courteous, and respectful manner. Computer skills necessary to maintain departmental records, documents, and reports. Strong written and verbal communication, including presentation skills. Analytical ability to develop action plans that address issues and concerns in a timely manner. Mathematical aptitude for developing an annual budget and monitoring expenditures. Demonstrated ability to serve effectively as a leader and member of a team.EEO STATEMENT
