Geologist - Water Services

Job Description CDM Smith is seeking a motivated Mid‑Level Hydrogeologist to support a diverse portfolio of water resources and environmental projects. The role involves groundwater investigations, hydrogeologic characterization, and technical analyses that inform sustainable water management and environmental solutions. Working with multidisciplinary teams, the hydrogeologist will help design and implement field investigations, interpret hydrogeologic data, and support the development of technical reports and modeling efforts. Key responsibilities include: performing basic to moderate complexity geologic/hydrogeologic analysis in surface and subsurface conditions; subsurface geological formation logging; water sampling; surface geological mapping; aquifer testing; soils characterization; data compilation and evaluation; preparing cross‑sections, iso‑concentration maps, technical reports, and QA/QC analysis; drafting evaluations and calculations for federal, state, and local regulatory compliance; ensuring firm policies are followed; scheduling and reviewing subcontractor work; contributing to the firm’s Technical Knowledge Management through white papers and technical design documentation; submitting technical papers to journals; attending conferences and symposia; leading field tasks on projects; providing technical guidance and training to junior staff; reviewing the work of junior staff; and performing other duties as required. The position requires periods of travel, including overnight hours and weekends, for field supervision and oversight of drilling operations. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Science or related discipline and 5 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Equivalent directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Driving Requirements An appropriate and valid driver’s license is required. Preferred Qualifications PG license preferred. Skills & Abilities Expert knowledge of computer‑assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices; expert knowledge of scientific methods and processes; expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.); excellent verbal and written communication skills.
