Clinical Social Worker (40 Hour)

The Connecticut Department of Correction is seeking a highly motivated and experienced licensed Clinical Social Worker for a full‑time position on the second shift at MacDougall‑Walker Correctional Institution (Suffield, CT). This recruitment will also be used for future vacancies on second shift at our various facilities. Position Details Full‑time, 40 hours per week on the second shift. Schedule: Monday‑Friday 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm with rotating weekend and holiday shifts. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments. Develop interdisciplinary treatment plans. Conduct risk assessments. Coordinate with community supports and treatment providers. Engage in evidence‑based behavioral health services, including individual and group psychotherapy. Provide care for a population with a full array of clinical diagnoses (mood, psychotic, personality disorders). Work as part of a multidisciplinary team including behavioral health clinicians, psychologists, psychiatry providers, medical, and corrections professionals. Qualifications Licensure as a clinical social worker in the State of Connecticut. Preferred Qualifications Correctional or forensic behavioral health treatment experience. Experience with crisis intervention. Experience with behavior management. Experience with individual and group psychotherapy. Experience with criminal justice‑involved adults. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of social work methodology, casework, group work, and community mobilization. Knowledge of family and interpersonal relationship dynamics. Knowledge of values, sanctions, purposes, and ethics of professional social work. Knowledge of social, cultural, economic, medical, psychological, and legal issues influencing clients and families. Knowledge of mental illnesses and approaches to treatment. Considerable interpersonal skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to devise and implement treatment plans with measurable goals that address client needs. Ability to independently apply current psychiatric treatment modalities to address client needs. Special Requirements Must possess and retain a license to practice clinical social work pursuant to Sec. 20‑195 (m‑z) of the Connecticut General Statutes. Must possess and maintain eligibility for participation in federal health care programs as defined in 42 U.S. § 1320a‑7b(f). May be required to have knowledge of sign language or communication ability with the deaf and hearing impaired in certain positions. May be required to have ability in Spanish oral and written communication in certain positions. May be required to travel.
