This full-time position involves creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment for students in upper elementary. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering academic growth, social development, and a love for learning in their students. Responsibilities Develop and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration. Assess and evaluate student progress through regular assignments, tests, and projects, providing timely feedback to students and parents. Collaborate with colleagues and administration to enhance instructional practices and share resources. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding academic performance and student behavior. Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods into the curriculum to enhance student engagement. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and trends. Foster a growth mindset in students by encouraging resilience, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Supervise students during recess, lunch, and other non-classroom activities to ensure their safety and well-being. Maintain an organized and well-managed classroom that reflects students' work and promotes a positive learning atmosphere. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Valid teaching certification for lower elementary education. ZG Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in an lower elementary classroom setting. Strong understanding of child development and effective teaching strategies for diverse learners. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. Proficiency in using technology as a teaching tool and for classroom management. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. Passion for teaching and a dedication to inspiring students to reach their full potential. Terms of Employment: School year as defined in the written agreement between the New Haven Board of Education and the New Haven Education Association. Compensation: Appropriate placement on the salary schedule as defined in the written agreement between the New Haven Board of Education and the New Haven Education Association which can be found at under the transparency page.
