Accounting & Tax Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting & Tax Specialist to join our growing jewelry company, which operates five retail locations . This position will play an important role in managing the company’s daily accounting functions and ensuring that financial records, inventory, payroll, and tax information are accurate and up to date.

The ideal candidate is organized, trustworthy, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment. Experience with jewelry, luxury retail, inventory, or multi-location businesses is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting activities for all five retail locations.
• Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks .
• Handle Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, invoices, payments, and company expenses.
• Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations.
• Monitor daily sales and deposits and ensure transactions are properly recorded.
• Reconcile sales between the POS system, bank deposits, and accounting records.
• Track and reconcile jewelry inventory across all five locations.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies, transfers, returns, and adjustments.
• Assist with payroll accounting and payroll reconciliations.
• Assist with sales tax preparation, reporting, and compliance.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and provide information to management.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Maintain organized records for tax filings, audits, vendors, and financial reporting.
• Work with outside CPAs, tax professionals, and auditors when needed.
• Review financial information for errors or discrepancies and assist with resolving issues.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of company financial and employee information.
• Help improve accounting procedures and internal controls as the company continues to grow.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of QuickBooks .
• Experience with Excel and accounting software.
• Experience with retail or inventory accounting preferred.
• Knowledge of sales tax and payroll accounting.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally.
• Jewelry, luxury retail, precious metals, or multi-location retail experience is a strong plus.
